The letter this week from Sen. Chuck Grassley (IA) is notable because he's the most senior lawmaker to inquire about this colossal screw up so far, and he's a Republican.

The Trump administration is tearing up 900 deep-sea instruments that took a decade to install and $370 million to build — scrapping the world's most advanced ocean monitoring network to save $48m/year.
