My sincere apologies
I fully admit
that sometimes my words
can be rather repetitive
but it is a challenge
not to repeat myself
as I sit near the end
of the pandemic’s fourth year
watching as we
repeat the same mistakes.
After the professor tells me
all of her students
are out sick
I ask if her university
says there’s a penalty
for too many sick days
and with a sigh she says
she’s ignoring that policy
if the only thing
her students
learn from her
is how to show compassion
she’ll be satisfied.

URGENT UKRI UPDATE

On Wednesday we gave UKRI 48hrs to reverse the suspension of its Equality, Diversity & Inclusion panel. It has not done so.

We are therefore calling on all UCU members with any voluntary positions at UKRI to resign.

Let us know if you've done so.

UKRI must reverse suspension to rescue its reputation

UCU has written to UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) calling on it to reverse its decision to suspend its advisory board on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within 48 hours. If it refuses to do so, the union will call on its members to resign from voluntary positions with the funding body.

Had a fun evening with colleagues where we laughed and I got laughed at in a way where I laughed along.

Most of us were overworked (both task wise as well as emotional labour) so it's a much needed pressure valve release.

I'd like to think my brain is being smart and that's why I'm resisting the urge to order fried chicken.

In reality I think I just so sleepy that I'll get home and pass out before the delivery arrives.

Jack Goes to Therapy: A (Somewhat) Romantic Comedy was laugh-out-loud-slash-heartwarming queer comedy at its best. Highly recommend! #vanfringe
aaaaand, we're not going on strike.
My late father worked for many years at a Kimberly-Clark mill in Ontario. Most of their products were once produced throughout Canada, and the quality of Kleenex in particular is unsurpassed. I'm really disappointed to see the company withdraw this product from Canada altogether. https://www.ctvnews.ca/business/grab-a-tissue-while-you-can-kleenex-tissues-to-be-discontinued-in-canada-1.6533598
Grab a tissue while you can: Kleenex tissues to be discontinued in Canada

Kimberly-Clark is discontinuing its consumer facial tissue business in Canada, citing 'unique complexities.'

In case you didn’t know, the Met Police in London looked to get a cut of all uses of police boxes in Doctor Who merch.

The U.K. Patent Office found against them, on the basis that, by now, a police box was just the TARDIS, and the Met were no Time Lords.
