What I learned from my #YVR visit for #VanFringe:

* I can still stay up until 4am (Eastern) for three consecutive nights... as long as I have four consecutive days to recover.
* Cycling in Vancouver, with its bike streets and separated lanes and seawall and active recognition of rights-of-way by motorists, is amazing... except for the hills. (At least in the UBC/West Point Grey/Kitsilano/Granville Island/Stanley Park areas.)
* Fringe folk are Fringe folk wherever you go.

It's happening! My #VanFringe is complete now.
An early start to day two of (my) #VanFringe.
I saw an improvised Shakespearean tragedy tonight at #vanfringe in which every character but one died violently (one by sharpened sausage to the forehead) and from all accounts it was actually the second bloodiest performance of the night.

Saw Sheila the Musical this afternoon as a last minute choice before my last volunteer shift. Really amazing performances of the songs, really great drag, and the plot was ok but not really the point. There was a flashing light effect meant to represent a glowing tv that was maybe a bit strong, so flashing lights warning.

This one was its last show of this fringe, but apparently it'll be at the Vancouver Fringe in a couple weeks, so I'll link to that show page instead: https://www.vancouverfringe.com/events/sheila-the-musical/

(I'm not sure what hashtag the Vancouver fringe uses, if any, so I tried a couple things below)

Sheila The Musical

Set against the backdrop of a mid-20th century domestic scene, “Sheila! The Musical” unfolds through the eyes of Sheila, a housewife who navigates the complexities of her expected domestic roles while grappling with her own aspirations and desires. The narrative…

Saw my last #vanfringe show for this year tonight! No Worries If Not was a deeply personal and deeply funny reflection on, indirectly, laundry and the lies we tell ourselves and each other. The show was sold out so get your tickets now if you plan to go!
And tonight, I saw Before They Cut Down Our Tree which was a beautiful coming-of-age story about two Asian-Canadian girls, seen through the eyes of their older selves. Also highly recommend - there are four shows left at the relatively large Performance Works, please help them sell out the rest! #vanfringe
Somehow I ended up seeing even MORE one-man queer musical comedy (I swear I didn't plan it this way), but I loved Anesti Daniels: This Show Will Change Your Life anyway. Check him out on the video-based socials media even if you're not here for #vanfringe
Stuff Of The Dead was estate-sale-meets-comedic-theatre at its best. Well crafted, and entertaining for the props alone. #vanfringe
How to Tame Your Squirrel was bizarre fringe-y theatre, which is something I've been seeing less of at recent festivals. Glad to see more of it, and the title very precisely describes the show. #vanfringe
