@deviantollam Saw this recently in an “academic” research setting and immediately thought you after watching your last con talk. Initially I thought this would be really bad, and probably against all sorts of rules, but what’s your perspective?

accidentally wrote "saad" instead of "saas" in a text to my partner; they immediately coined "Software as a Disappointment"

and honestly, where is the lie

A 2x4 matrix of tweet screenshots. Left column labeled at the top "When there is a highly contagious disease outbreak", right column labeled "When black people protest being murdered by cops". First row, under "disease outbreak", tweet author Sharon quips "I call bullshit! Just trying to scare people to stay inside..." punctuated with a middle finger emoji. Under "murdered by cops", the same Sharon says "They said get in the house. Fkn listen." Description continued below.
Study of 27 countries finds the average daily time savings for remote work is 72 min per person. Workers allocate 40% of the saved time to their jobs, 11% to caregiving, and 34% to leisure.

Working from home saves employees 2 hours a week in commute time, and they’re spending it in ways CEOs don’t expect

CEOs like Elon Musk and James Gorman say remote workers are less productive. But new research from the NBER indicates otherwise.

#JohnMastodon is proof that things *CAN* go viral here on Mastodon, but the key is that *YOU* are the algorithm. The reason that the John Mastodon meme showed up on other people's timelines is because so many users boosted the posts.

The lesson here is: please don't just favourite something if you really enjoyed it; BOOST it so that other people can enjoy it, too! This is the only reason why I bother to create as large a social graph as I can on Mastodon—to act as an amplifier. You can, too!❤️😉

A cryptobro DMed me to ask if I wanted to join his mailing list.

I spent slightly too long making this to send in reply.
So... this morning I had more notifications waiting for me in Mastodon than I did in Twitter. And all the notifications on Twitter are people telling me Mastodon will never get enough users to matter.

Going to bed shortly but FOLKS, Mastodon has completed brought me out of my Twitter panic and depression. Whatever happens on the birdapp, there are new mammals emerging. Goodnight.

Little experiment comparing activity on #Mastodon and #Twitter.

One hour ago, I posted the Dutch news above (previous item in this thread) at the same time to my personal accounts on #Mastodon and #Twitter. Here's what happened in that hour:

* Mastodon, 24 favorites, 12 boosts

* Twitter, 12 likes, 6 retweets

That's nearly twice as much engagement on Mastodon. But I have more than 23 times more followers on Twitter than Mastodon.
