Growing Rhone Varietals on the west slopes of Mt Veeder in the Moon Mt AVA. Local flora and fauna of the Mayacamas. Fire info if anything gets close. Also pics of service dog puppies when we have them. K6GSM
New replacement chickies. A Rhode Island Red, a Buff Orpington, a Gold Wyandotte, and a Black Star. They will live in a pen in the garage while we build a replacement fox-impervious chicken coop.
We now have a Hairy Woodpecker looking around for carpenter bee larva. #birding
Catastrophe struck the chicken coop last night. A fox pushed a hole through the chicken wire and we lost all 4 chickens 😢. Time to do a complete rebuild of the coop and run while we raise replacement chickens in the garage. The chicken wire was likely weakened by age, but that was one strong (and hungry) gray fox. Moving to welded wire and probably an electric perimeter wire.
@dianea @ai6yr So we recently signed up for the Ridwell service that “recycles” food and plastic shipping (think Amazon) packaging. They claim most of it goes into products like Trex decking and the like. Is this different than the extruders you used to deal with? #HateGreenWashing
