The #GinniThomas testimony is alarming. She admitted discussing her convos with Meadows in the run-up to 1/6 in real time with her husband, a sitting Justice on #SCOTUS.
Justice Thomas then participated in ruling on a case regarding whether those communications should be produced, knowing his wife was a participant.
I don’t blame Justice Thomas for his wife’s conduct. I blame him for not recusing himself from 1/6 cases. It’s very, very basic ethics. It’s unconscionable.

1. Welcome!
2. There is a learning curve here, but most people find it short and not very steep. Play around, explore. You'll get it.
3. Lots of people are willing to help.
4. Yes, it's different than Twitter. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes not. But you'll figure it out.
5. With surges especially, things sometimes get slow/glitchy, but they usually get fixed pretty quick.

The hardest user interface aspect to get right is making a ”Follow“ button that makes clear whether you’re already following someone or whether you need to click it to follow them.

Joshua TopolskyObviously there's a ton of noise in the world right now about Twitter and its owner, but I'm trying pretty hard to limit how much of that drama (or even comedy, which is plentiful) I bring into mastodon. I feel like we actually have a shot at establishing or learning (!) better habits and etiquette and frankly just ways of communicating as we disembark from web 2.0 thinking. We owe it to the communities that currently exist here to stop and think before we try to emulate another bad experience.
