@PeggyStuart Unfortunately none of this helps me, a 50 year old renter on a fixed income, supporting 3 people, and whose rent just got hit with a $300/month increase, effectively forcing me to give up things like medical care and most of my food budget.
Just like the birds, people depend on me only until my hands and pockets are empty, then they fly away. At least the birds bring me joy.
@pepemapache As long as it's not in the way of daily life, why not keep it up? Do the things that make you happy!
Drink deep, little friend. I leave these weeds around for you
They are not angry with you
for wearing a mask
they are angry with you
for reminding them
that the pandemic is not over.
@GurdeepPandher That is the face of joy 😊
Tomorrow I will be 50 years old and I don't know how that happened. Brain still says I'm 24.

So it's about time for a small #introduction

I'm a Fort Lauderdale native living in East Central Florida, where I work in urology and write the rest of the time. I have 2 books out, one young adult (Becoming Rachel), one psy-fi (Looker), with 3 more in process and another in planning! Also enjoy photography, painting, and volunteering in conservation. I long for a quiet, simple life because this whole "hustle culture" is exhausting.

@mattblaze Thank you, it's already so much less stressful here.

Welcome, newly arrived refugees from that other social media site!

You'll likely get a lot of (mostly unsolicited) advice about how the "culture" here is "different". It can be overwhelming and make you feel like you have to walk on eggshells. But other than "don't be a jerk" (which you hopefully knew already), you can safely ignore most of it.

Follow people, make friends, connect with old ones, speak your mind. You got this.
