I prioritize living a minimally social yet highly joyful life.

Just like the birds, people depend on me only until my hands and pockets are empty, then they fly away. At least the birds bring me joy.
Drink deep, little friend. I leave these weeds around for you
They are not angry with you
for wearing a mask
they are angry with you
for reminding them
that the pandemic is not over.
Tomorrow I will be 50 years old and I don't know how that happened. Brain still says I'm 24.

So it's about time for a small #introduction

I'm a Fort Lauderdale native living in East Central Florida, where I work in urology and write the rest of the time. I have 2 books out, one young adult (Becoming Rachel), one psy-fi (Looker), with 3 more in process and another in planning! Also enjoy photography, painting, and volunteering in conservation. I long for a quiet, simple life because this whole "hustle culture" is exhausting.

Welcome, newly arrived refugees from that other social media site!

You'll likely get a lot of (mostly unsolicited) advice about how the "culture" here is "different". It can be overwhelming and make you feel like you have to walk on eggshells. But other than "don't be a jerk" (which you hopefully knew already), you can safely ignore most of it.

Follow people, make friends, connect with old ones, speak your mind. You got this.

If you've been thinking of reaching out to tell an writer/artist/creator that their work has made a difference in your life, please do so.

It means more than I can possibly express. πŸ’Ÿ

If it behooves you, instead of thinking any more about Twitterβ€”hit us with some PDFs, some incomprehensible sociology, a fact about your town, some poetry no one cares about, political theory that will never land, obscure social history, climate links, math things, some tech so obscure 20 people use it. We want your inner noise. Just push the gas on your own ephemeralism and launch us into the future.

*Sheepish request* I'm new to Mastodon, but a lot of my former Twitter followers don't know I'm here yet. Someone suggested I could simply ask you fine people to boost me. Would you be so kind? (I promise to post a photo of my dog to say thanks). #WelcomeToMastodon
