We put in a community submission to Merri-bek Council to fund Drinking Water fountains in the small strip shopping centres around the municipality. We have been following through on Public drinking water access as part of #heatwave response with Council for 9 years now to address #ClimateChange impacts. with #ClimateAdaptation

We are promoting a #SwelteringCities petiton on Cooling standards needed for Victorian Renters.

Renters in particular are feeling #extremeheat in their own homes and often need to go elsewhere to find cooling relief. This petition is addressed to the Victorian Government to set minimum cooling standards for rental accommodation in Victoria.

Merri-bek Council have an engagement on Merri Parklands from North Coburg to Fawkner. It includes on Nature Conservation, Connecting to Nature, Accessible park amenities, and Strong acknowledgement of traditional owners.

Consultation closes 5pm, Friday 20 January 2023.

Plans already include creating a #wetlands area at Moomba Park suitable for the endangered Growling Grass Frog.

2022 will be remembered as the year of the Great Deluge, when record-breaking rain and floods lashed large parts of Eastern Australia, causing untold devastation for Australians and our economy. This report is a stark warning that this is not over yet, and a call for all levels of government to speed up their emission reductions and disaster preparation efforts.

@sortius It is an assessment of the electorates in the northern transport corridor, not just Merribek Focus was swings against Labor on primaries: Brunswick (-8.5%), Pascoe Vale (+1.2%), Broadmeadows (-9.4%), Greenvale (-18.3%), Kalkallo (-4.5%) Yan Yean (-13.6%). While Greens increased on primaries in Brunswick (1%), Pascoe Vale (1.5%), Yan Yean (+0.8%), they went backwards in Broadmeadows (-0.6%), Greenvale (-1.8%), Kalkallo (-1.2%) Northern suburbs feels neglected on infrastructure
