Wild how GARBAGE some of this AI generated content of Carlin is. Uninspired flavorless cornmeal.

Waiting for those #AI generated Spotify exclusive #podcasts to hit the market and fuck everything up...

Agreed. We’ve had IP68 water resistant phones since 2018 and they had removable batteries

New business idea…

Make fake sub

Charge 150k per ride

Window is high-rez OLED display

You only go about 5 ft under-water

Play video of underwater titanic 👻

Not sure what is worse, fraud or endangering human & animal life 😅

I just feel that the fact that you can SEE that they are using such a cheap device to control the submersible makes me wonder what other cost-cutting measures where utilized during the construction of the vehicle.

Adventure tourism is disgusting. #Millionaires are going to pristine, untouched ecosystems are causing havoc. There is even trash at the top of Mt Everest. Maybe some Orca whales decided that enough is enough and sank the damn sub

@alienghic @arstechnica

Problem is that comparing a submarine to a tank is completely invalid. These vehicles are just not the same.

If your tanks becomes unresponsive then you just get out and walk.

Try doing that 12,000ft under the ocean in a vehicle that is locked from the outside.

At that point, design and affordability should be at the bottom of the priority list. But, I guess when you're running a tourism business you gotta keep costs low so you can turn a profit #Capitalism 🤭

It's wild that you're insinuating that a logitech videogame controller is more well designed than the hull of a submarine or a pressurized railway car 🫠

I’m not making any guesses as to what went wrong but I am gonna make a guess that most of the technical systems on the submersible do not have proper redundancies or quality systems

@alienghic @arstechnica

they control the PERISCOPE with a xbox controller. Not the entire submersible

@alienghic @arstechnica

*controller malfunction happens for military*
"Oh no! Our device has become unresponsive due to an technical malfunction. Lets reboot.”

*controller malfunction happens on civilian submersible*
"Oh no! I guess we gotta wait for the coast guard to saves us. I hope we don’t run out of air and die!”

@alienghic @arstechnica

But I don't think the navy is using an XBOX controller on any system that directly impact human life

How is using an XBOX controller to control sensors even comparable???
