The money is there, or was..

From Tuesday: "That commandment to love our neighbors is inherently a public thing. Politics is just another way that we figure out how we treat our neighbors and how we treat each other." https://www.texasobserver.org/james-talarico-big-tent-revival-primary/

With Primary Field Still in Flux, James Talarico Pitches His Big Tent Revival

"I'm not interested in tearing down my fellow Democrats, because we are all on the same team ... but I think that I've got a compelling case to make."

The investigative newsroom I work for, @ProPublica, is raising money right now. This is the last few days of our pledge drive.

We report on abuses of power in the public interest. We reported on who works for DOGE and revealed Clarence Thomas’s conflicts of interest.

It was the first outlet to win a Pulitzer for web-first journalism. And if you donate through this link, you'll let our team know the fediverse is an audience to pay attention to: https://give.propublica.org/give/346528/#!/donation/checkout?c_src=ben_mstdn #journalism #fediverse

Where Is Naomi Wu?

It was such a cute gadget. A tiny computer, brushed aluminum on the outside, with a decent keyboard (albeit with chicklet keys), a Thinkpad-ish pointing stick that would even take a grippy Thinkpad “cat’s tongue” insert. A fairly fast X86 Intel processor, enough storage, and 8 gigs of memory. And now it was on sale at a low price.

Since everyone in the executive branch is getting creative with the law these days, democrats should just start their own sessions of congress and pass bills counteracting republican bills or declaring executive actions illegal which most of these are anyway.
This is a public service announcement to never ever use Oracle

Best of 2024: Christian activists brought concerns about sex trafficking to prominence in #Texas and then failed the survivors they sought to help.

Arizona's right-wing legislature rigged the "public" education system completely against actual public education and in favor of private schools -- which get taxpayer funding.

Then the lawmakers made sure no one could find out how the for-profit edu-looters are performing.

It's beyond corrupt.

Great reporting from @ProPublica

Arizona Regulators Closed a Failing Charter School. It Reopened as a Private Religious School Funded by Taxpayers.

Arizona’s acclaimed voucher program provides zero transparency into private schools’ history, academic performance or financial sustainability to help parents make informed school choices.

Reliably, the New York Times finds the mildest, most normalizing way to describe the absolutely bonkers appointment of a Fox "News" host as head of the most powerful military in the history of the world.

The expression "outside the norm" doesn't begin to explain how bizarre this is.
