Seriously considering the possibility that my mother's #generation (born mid-1940s) might be the last that could be naturally happy without some kind of medical/chemical intercession. Some horrible things happened to my mom, but she also had many reasons to be happy. She was rarely #depressed, and her faith in #God was strong and abiding.

I can see reasons to be grateful, but it's difficult to conjure up natural sources of happiness now - and virtually impossible to believe in a loving god.
