Bringing up one more alarm in the notification hell of climate change.

Ding! Collective Hypercapnia is Scheduled to Begin Somewhere Before 2076 as CO2 Levels in the Atmosphere Become Toxic.

Based on research submitted by Alexander N. Larcombe and Phil N. Bierwirth. Their article was published in the journal **Air Quality, Atmosphere & Health** on February 26, 2026.

Two weeks of war in Iran unleashed more carbon pollution than Iceland does in a year

> If you've seen news of the devastating effects on the environment of the war on Iran, this is the report they're referring to. This is terrible. Iran's ecosystems are interconnected with the rest of the global biosphere. Iranians are suffering the brunt of the conflict. War is terrible for us and the Earth.

Plants can’t absorb as much CO2 as climate models predicted

CO2 can stimulate plant growth, but only when enough nitrogen is available—and that key ingredient has been seriously miscalculated. A new study finds that natural nitrogen fixation has been overestimated by about 50 percent in major climate models. This means the climate-cooling benefits of plant growth under high CO2 are smaller than expected. The result: a reduced buffer against climate change and more uncertainty in future projections.

A secret weapon to fight carbon emissions was just discovered: Beavers

A new study in Switzerland finds that beaver-built wetlands can trap and store large amounts of carbon, offering a low-cost boost for restoration and climate resilience.

"Realistically, to mitigate this approaching threat, the alarm needs to be raised immediately. Unfortunately, currently there is little awareness or inclination for action on this issue."
