The crucial part of yesterday's Presidential Memorandum:

"In addition, the Secretary of Defense may employ any other members of the regular Armed Forces as necessary to augment and support the protection of Federal functions and property in any number determined appropriate in his discretion..."

- Any # of active-duty troops can be deployed.
- It doesn’t say California, it applies nationwide.
- While the National Guard portion is limited to 60 days (at first), this section has no time constraint.
- The Secretary of Defense, a political appointee, decides alone what level of force is “necessary.”
- This sets up a legal pretext to insert active-duty military into any peaceful protest nationwide, without needing to invoke the Insurrection Act.

They basically just declared martial law, without having to use the Insurrection Act of 1807 like Project 2025 had planned. They used bureaucratic language and vague “protective” justifications to do essentially the same thing. Find your local 6/14 No Kings protest. Get active.
