@Fawn I typically think of it as just words on the page. Doesn't need to make coherent sense, but it still is the story to the writer!

Today's #Indigenous bookrave is for our cousins down south, Māori (Ngāti Porou and Te Whānau-ā-Apanui) poet Tayi Tibble. Holy, this is some badass poetry. In Poūkahangatus, Tibble gracefully balances contemporary life with narratives of a rich matriarchal lineage. A sense of the land is always present and invoked in ever-shifting (but always striking) images. If you ever have the chance to see Tayi Tibble in person, GO. @talentedmr I can't speak for BIPOC, so this is specifically for LGBT: avoid the stereotypes as best you can. Even if you fall into them, it's fine as long as it isn't a certain few (some arent the worst stereotypes). You don't have to avoid writing LGBT characters, just avoid harmful stereotypes as best as you can!
