Today I went with @Andy_Hazel to see Pipilotti Rist’s Gravity Be My Friend video installation at Stockholm Uni’s Accelerator gallery. I sort of saw it before, but not watched the entirety, as it was part of a larger exhibition.
This time, I lay back on the carpeted area under the ceiling screen, watched the whole loop, and then did so again for the other screen. I really enjoyed it: it was like a visual soundbath. Or, indeed, an eyeball massage.
Anyway, it’s free, and open until February.
Yeah, the whole poetry-as-"prompt injection" paper sure smelled like propaganda. Turned out it is.
Here is my Ukraine peace proposal:
1. Putin is sent to The Hague.
2. Russian soldiers leave Ukraine including Crimea.
3. Russia returns all kidnapped Ukrainian children.
4. Russia releases all Ukrainian prisoners.
5. Russia pays damages for everything their war has destroyed.
6. Russia pays damages to Ukrainian families who have lost family members.
7. Russia pays damages to every person who has been tortured, abducted or otherwise criminally mistreated.
8. Ukraine becomes a member of the EU.

In the past two or so weeks, I took a journey around Europe by train on an Interrail pass I bought last year, seeing some sights and catching up with friends. 🧵 1/

I also managed to briefly talk to Alexis (the keyboardist, formerly of 00s bedroom twee chamber-pop project The Motifs). She said that there are some plans for some of her Motifs recordings to be rereleased by a label named Daisart, though didn’t seem too keen on the idea of her juvenilia being dug up.
Not sure if/when this will happen, and what will be included, but hopefully there’ll be something; ideally the whole lot. Other than The Paradise Motel’s early records, The Motifs’ brief yet intensely productive creative spurt in the second half of the 00s is one of the great blind spots in Australian indie history.
Wikipedia is now on Mastodon, at @wikipedia!
They've taken an interesting approach here, as it is an account run by the community, where everyone can contribute (explanation here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/@Wikipedia). At the same time, it is verified on the official homepage of wikipedia.org, as you can see in the screenshot.
Personally, I think this suits the spirit of the fediverse that the Wikipedia account is not a PR department, but community members building something together!
