Alright then. I'm in the process of migrating to @alan but because things are so heavily loaded, it seems it's going to take a few minutes to bring everyone with me.
Fasten yer seat belts!

My achievement of the month is to be one of the first 25 people to follow @kathygriffin on Mastodon!
Then again, it is early in the month.
I'm trying to find an instance that reflects my interests so I can take a little load off mastodon.social. So far, I've found two: both in the process of an orderly shutdown.
The metaphor is obvious.
I wrote a post about the whole Twitter thing to get it out of my head.
It's not about the money.

-- saying this, I also started paying for Mastodon, as I am happy to support a system that creates value.
I see so many odd discussions on Twitter about the whole verification process, and not having this dumpster fire here is so refreshing.
When I first joined the bird site, I tried to post things that I found interesting. I built a small network of interesting people. We had fun. But over time many of those people left, and for the most part I switched to sniping at the rampant stupidity.
It's going to take a while to switch back. I'll try to return to posting about the things I'm interested in, to starting a dialogue. But it's a different modality; the shift might take a little time.
Checking the logs for my website comment form spam filter and one of the trapped subjects is "XEVIL 5: the best program for captchas solving was released !"
Better luck with XEVIL 6, suckers.
To add to the above:
Since there is no #algorithm it is really important that you #boost interesting posts by others.
A star (liking) does nothing to help increase a post's visibility beyond the original author's followers.
I know it is strange coming from 🐦, but it really is the only way to increase a post's audience.
So #BoostAllTheThings (if you like them) and you will notice others will do the same to your content. Here we're all in it together!
