Writing about Management and Tech

Today I set my Twitter account to inactive. This feels like a big step for me considering how important the platform was for me for a long time.
Much of the start of my tech career I got on Twitter.

I also deactivated all the x-posting I had. I can't even say how much I appreciate Mastodon atm. Let's see where this all takes us. I thank yall for this community. πŸ™‡

From my Twitter: "I am done with this platform for the time being. I'll keep my account to avoid abuse but what happened in the last weeks and recent actions showed that Twtr has turned into a platform I do not want to participate in actively any longer.

So long and thanks for all the fish!"

Edited as it got x-posted which is not disabled.

Want to work on Mastodon full time? I’d like to pay a Rails dev for the next 3+ months to implement some auth improvements that matter to me but also just burn down bugs, make perf improvements, whatever is needed as this place grows. Remote 100% ok but ideally need 1+ hrs of Pacific time zone overlap, 3+hrs of GMT overlap, fair pay, meaningful work. [edit: email [email protected] to discuss more] #fedihire #ruby #rails #job

Oh my.

@Mediaite conservative writer Isaac Schorr misread the Twitter account @joinmastodon as "John Mastodon," and said that the open source social media software was named after this imaginary person. https://www.mediaite.com/opinion/hypocrisy-and-fear-all-the-way-down-at-twitter/

Hypocrisy and Fear All the Way Down at Twitter

After you’ve drawn such a strong distinction on speech and human freedom, you can’t make any mistake about the side on which you belong.

I am no Reddit user at all, so I just did a Usability test -- and I can confidently say that the Desktop web version is a steam pile of πŸ’©

Things are nested in unnecessary menus, the UI is cluttered with noise ... wow... that was very demotivating to use it more.

Colleagues of mine have created a page that creates generative art based on data from the football WM - https://www.gencup.art/

Although I don't care for football, I admit that these graphics are pretty sweet.

GenCup β€” Abstract posters from the World Cup Matches

Generative art project that combines graphic design, football, and data. Using the statics of FIFA World Cup games to generate abstract compositions. Every match a new poster.

That's what the Twitter Inbox now is. A spam folder. Also Musk is a Nazi ... so I'll likely delete my account by the end of this year. I'll try to find a way of keeping in touch with many great people here but nope ... not dealing with this anymore.

Over the weekend I watched "All quiet on the western front" -- which is a remake of the 1930 movie based on the book with same title.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1016150/

I found the movie to be really good from visual to sound design and perfectly portrayed. I can highly recommend to check it out, although it's very gruesome focusing on a realistic depiction of the cruelties of war. Especially the final 15 minutes are very intense and heartbreaking.
