Well done, ⁦‪@washingtonpost‬⁩. A definitive description of just some of the action contributing to UKR success in Donbas & Kherson. Rehearsals, intel-driven operations, precise targeting, good leadership, soldier courage all needed for this success. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/12/29/ukraine-offensive-kharkiv-kherson-donetsk/
Inside the Ukrainian counteroffensive that shocked Putin and reshaped the war

First, a lightning sweep across Kharkiv. Then, a slower grind into Kherson. In two months of stunning gains, Ukraine's military redrew the battlefield map and proved it can fight to win.

@cstross
It's a reasonable diagnosis

“Libertarianism. A simple-minded right-wing ideology ideally suited to those unable or unwilling to see past their own sociopathic self-regard.” - Mrs. Mulverhill (Transitions - Iain Banks)

"How can we know the allegiances of other notable politicians, heads of state, TV talking heads, and so forth? We need only examine their statements and activities regarding the war in Ukraine—which, again, is as close to a battle between good and evil as we’ve seen in my lifetime."

In the past 24 hours, Ukrainians have been been blocked from signing up for Twitter using their phone numbers and using 2FA and accounts tracking Russian oligarchs' jets have been suspended.

What happens on Twitter can seem like a sideshow, but Elon Musk's actions are a direct threat to democracy.

It's been a busy summer and I totally forgot to share the exciting news that I won a special merit in the Aquatics category 2022 World Sports Photography Awards for this photo of Andrea Mason. Really pleased with the recognition and can't wait to enter again next year.
