If you want to delete all your old Twitter DMs (which I think is a good idea even if Twitter might retain copies of them somewhere), and also your historical likes, RTs, and any tweets you don’t want to keep, I made a Twitter app for that.
It’s called Semiphemeral and it’s pretty easy to use. I posted instructions for how to do it https://twitter.com/semiphemeral/status/1591258781098594304?s=46&t=L4aWvmyNxEFRL6eULgeO-A

“As you watch in horror/delight as Elon burns this site to the ground you might be pondering your privacy 🤔. Do you have YEARS of tweets, likes, and DMs? https://t.co/EF6AVCPm2O Gather 'round, friends, while I show you how to DELETE THEM ALL (or as much as Twitter's API allows)”

We often think of memes as popular photos, videos or phrases online.

But the term “meme” was coined by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins to describe a behavior, style or idea as a unit of culture that can spread or disappear. From social movements to religion to Grumpy Cat.

Even though most folks may not be aware of it, we’re sharing popular concepts from #science, every single day across social media.

Democracy isn’t for sale.

The richest man in the world paid $44B to own the most influential media platform. Now he’s using it to sway the US #election in his favor by openly ‘recommending’ how to #vote.

Elon Musk seems to be making it clear that his purchase of #Twitter is intended to undermine #democracy.

Day #1 on Mastodon: "Help! Make it look like Twitter! Turn off the confusing advanced web interface!"

Day #4 on Mastodon: "I'm piloting the advanced web interface like Han Solo flies the Millennium Falcon!"

In recent years, we became too comfortable letting #Twitter define journalism & media. Algorithms often dictated the narratives we collectively paid attention to.

Absurd trends were covered by news outlets & ballooned into major stories while we missed so much real substance. And the quick takes of uninformed politicians & bad actors were forced upon anyone participating in the network.

It was bad for democracy. The #Mastodon model makes me hopeful we can do better. #twittermigration
