Got back on facebook for a while, only to delete it again. Everything on there feels like spam.

Like the ads, the ads are so pervasive that even adblockers don't do anything to get rid of them.

Besides the privacy issue, it's just annoying as hell. I don't go onto a social network to be fed ads. I go on to connect with other people.

@phoebs sounds about like my day to day life. I heard somewhere that talking to one's self is actually helpful for problem solving and that it is a sign of intelligence. So, you're a smart lunatic 😋

@Antillion it's pretty great imo. At least from a fictional point of view. I'm no computer wiz though, so I wouldn't know if everything is accurate or not. The story telling is solid though and it doesn't feel cheesy like the movie Hackers or Swordfish.

@_tapsilog btw, I have very little money now and mostly debt. I'm way happier than I was when I had money. And no, I'm not a trust fund kid. I'm cut off financially.

@_tapsilog really when I said happiness. I meant contentment. Happiness is a feeling, just like sadness. It is a reaction. Whereas contentment is a choice.

Just because people are rich doesn't mean they are happy. I grew up with a decent amount of money and I was miserable about 85% time because my parents fought a lot and my dad is a destructive narcissist.

Some of the happiest people I knew where my grandparents and they were dirt poor with lots of debt.

My goal was to sign up for all of the new privacy focused social networks. Now, I'm overwhelmed with the sheer amount of them popping up. I may stick with the three I've got so far.
