Woke up this morning and realized I had totally forgotten about Mastodon. How does a social media platform persist when it doesn't take root in your mind?
@LanceUlanoff I think having nearly half a million accounts probably helps, Lance
@LanceUlanoff @Trev HEY LANCE WE'LL UNLOCK THE SECRETS OF TUSK SITE ONLY TO YOU IF YOU PAY US DO IT FOR THE JOURNALISMS
@LanceUlanoff not sure Lance. Must be your head. Or, maybe you're trying to sell another article about how bad you understand this whole thing.
@LanceUlanoff The thing to realize is that everybody has different things that "take root" in their minds. The platform has clearly taken root in some people's minds, and that's great. :)
@LanceUlanoff You're only following three people, man. If you get more toots in your Home timeline, you'll come back for more!

@LanceUlanoff Usually because they're run on servers or similar equipment that are kept up through data centers/facilities designed for 24/7 uptime.

But, I mean, some persist through equipment internally like Raspberry Pis or home servers I suppose...

Also, you shouldn't let things take root. You should be handling user permissions responsibly, sir. That's just good administration.

@lanceulanoff You still remembered to come back and say this, though. That shows it not being as much of a fad, perhaps?
@LanceUlanoff I felt the same way about Twitter but it took root in the minds of others, no concern for mine.
