Microsoft has made positive contributions to FOSS?

Great news. Regardless, companies don't deserve redemption, people do. Let them develop positive FOSS contributions at a different company.

The pragmatism of "Microsoft isnt going away, so let's encourage their positive contributions to software" is as much an appeal to futility as "The CCP isnt going away, so let's encourage their positive contributions to medicine". Developers (and doctors) can make meaningful contributions without MS (the CCP), today, and that ability isnt going anywhere.

Note the point being about appeal to futility and not at all about conflating human rights violations with patent trolling.

And yes this is a subtoot. My last direct one has yet to receive a reply.
Just found out about #NewPipe [F-Droid Available] (Google Services & AdSense-Free, RSS-Forward Android Youtube App), currently wading into the app's features.

The setup experience could not be simpler, and I have over 300 subscriptions.

What would really flip my bits would be anonymous interaction wtih subscriptions and RSS migration of my playlists...

I don't see anyone talking about that anymore, but Chelsea Manning is still in solitary confinement. It's been more than two weeks now.

By the way, MIPS still exists and still makes chips. And RISC-V is the first RISC architecture that is completely and 100% open-source.

RISC has won the war. And, yes, the next generation of Apple hardware will probably run -- at least in part -- on ARM-based A12X or its successor.

Firefox has a handy "Close Tabs to the right" feature. I use it on my last pinned tab, to close everything at EOD.

Alfred for Mac also has a great "Quit All Apps" action. 👍

Bitcoin as we know it is not a currency replacement.

Nor is it Climate Change made tangible.

Before we even get to a discussion of how many KJ fractional reserve central banking uses in its current form, the assertions contradict the data.

Hilarious. After effectively abandoning Linux desktop OSes by never updating the client, withholding massive new features, & dropping support for tons of formats, Dropbox is naming something “Nautilus,” the name of one of the most used Linux file managers. https://blogs.dropbox.com/tech/2018/09/architecture-of-nautilus-the-new-dropbox-search-engine/
Architecture of Nautilus, the new Dropbox search engine

Over the last few months, the Search Infrastructure engineering team at Dropbox has been busy releasing a new full-text search engine called Nautilus, as a replacement for our previous search engine.
