@jaklumen @Tdorey @actualham @Dan_Blick @fgraver @Autumm I feel we don't talk nearly enough about introversion in networks. I'm the same. My head fills up and I stop thinking. @mahabali has thought about this a bit too.

So I'm really interested in what makes a network hospitable to both introverts and extroverts by design?

@katebowles @jaklumen @Tdorey @actualham @Dan_Blick @fgraver @Autumm
I was thinking about this.
A. What makes any space hospitable for both intro/extroverts?
B. I assume it is not a binary of course but asking ppl at both extremes to share their good/bad experiences and aspirations might be an interesting research project to pursue.
C. I think Autumm was interested in this topic awhile ago.
D. Is introversion a stable preference or contextual one? (and extroversion?)
@mahabali @Tdorey @katebowles @actualham @fgraver @Autumm @jaklumen I love this question. I hope to come back to this with a thoughtful response soon. I'm very interested in this topic.
@Dan_Blick @mahabali @Tdorey @katebowles @actualham @fgraver @Autumm @jaklumen What Dan said. Only have time to check in quickly right now but will reply later. Until we can go find what we've starred after we've starred it, replying quickly is easiest way for me to find this thread again!
@clhendricksbc @Dan_Blick @Tdorey @katebowles @actualham @fgraver @Autumm @jaklumen a donkey workaround is to save the url somewhere. I think. But ur right. At least by replying, u stay on the thread
@mahabali @Tdorey @katebowles @actualham @fgraver @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen new very favorite euphemism (not limited to Mastodon) for making tech do what you want in spite of itself: "donkey workaround"

@Dan_Blick @Tdorey @mahabali @actualham @fgraver @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen I realised when I read "donkey workaround" with delight that it's about making desire lines (@cogdog) -- shortcuts and fixes that make a system work.

For me it's about leaving a pinned tweet with the mastodon url in it so I come here seamlessly via Twitter.

@clhendricksbc @Dan_Blick @Tdorey @katebowles @actualham @fgraver @Autumm @jaklumen just a quick note, a link from Twitter's Sava Singh blog on cliqueonomics which i thought would be relevant to this thread
https://savasavasava.wordpress.com/2014/08/24/cliqueonomics/
@mahabali @clhendricksbc @Dan_Blick @Tdorey @katebowles @actualham @fgraver @Autumm @jaklumen I love this post, Maha, for many reasons. will post a few comments - but want to note here that sava uses lower case spelling for her name, i.e. sava saheli singh.
@Tdorey @katebowles @mahabali @actualham @Dan_Blick @fgraver @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen sava writes about inclusivity & exclusivity - I've been thinking about that in relation to Mastodon/Twitter. I know many who use Twitter in a 'light touch' way, but still feel part of academic Twitter. I don't want to abruptly 'leave the room'. I'm thinking about how to use my limited time in various spaces... for myself as well as for wider communities that I feel part of, and that I care for.

@catherinecronin @Tdorey @mahabali @actualham @Dan_Blick @fgraver @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen I find I'm getting used to toggling between the two. Twitter to skim and pick up stuff; Mastodon to reflect and respond.

Both are communities to me but I find this one is at a more intimate scale (see Jim's great post on scale and scope.)

@katebowles @Tdorey @catherinecronin @mahabali @actualham @Dan_Blick @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen I'm also finding switching between the two fairly easy for exactly the same reason. Part of it is all my connections on Twitter are fairly loose; already I've had much more meaningful conversations here than in 8 years on Twitter (w. the exception of #etmooc)
@fgraver @katebowles @Tdorey @mahabali @actualham @Dan_Blick @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen will look up Jim's post, thx. the intimacy here feels like early Twitter (big space, great people - before bots, ads, huge scale, etc) and it's wonderful. I also like focus here on building something sustainable, with specific values. my frustration is personal (as are all digital practices ;) ). limited time + multiple platforms = thin engagement. will do best I can!
p.s. yes, #etmooc was great :)
@fgraver @Tdorey @catherinecronin @katebowles @actualham @Dan_Blick @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen
Today i met Fredrik on VC. I have a feeling connecting kind of more deeply/intimately on Mastodon made that meeting more special (for me)
@mahabali @Tdorey @catherinecronin @katebowles @actualham @Dan_Blick @fgraver @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen there was lovely backchannel chat that I don't think you could see on phone - that said exactly that :)
@lauraritchie @Tdorey @catherinecronin @katebowles @actualham @Dan_Blick @fgraver @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen oh really? Hehe - did someone save the chat? We usually try but often forget to do that!
@mahabali @fgraver Oh, that's so great! Someday I'd like to meet Fredrik more than in just text!
@mahabali @Tdorey @catherinecronin @katebowles @actualham @Dan_Blick @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen Thank you! I also felt that having had the conversations we have in text form made the VC-meeting more meaningful. Now to continue building on that!

@katebowles @catherinecronin @Tdorey @actualham @Dan_Blick @fgraver @Autumm @clhendricksbc @jaklumen where is Jim's post? Which Jim? @econproph?

For me... TWITTER is something i access for notifications any time during day. Just like someone calling my name.

Here I come w intention and expecting deeper convo and i use it much less to broadcast (mainly coz audience to broadcast to is elsewhere)
