We tried Snap's new Snap Specs, the 132 grams AI-powered glasses.

The augmented reality was unimpressive, it kept breaking, they cost $2,195 and they look fucking stupid

Snap's AI Specs: LOL

Snap's AR Specs glasses are indeed very heavy, very dorky.

@josephcox I scrolled down the feed and was _not ready_ for how those things look 😂💀
And the same thing happened in the article with first reading about the "AI-ified version of [Jason] with a tiny head and a goatee as a child, wearing an enormous hat" and then going down the page and actually seeing it 💀💀💀
Great reporting!
@josephcox "bro please the AI bubble is collapsing bro you gotta buy these glasses that cost as much as a gaming laptop bro seriously they only crash all the time bro you gotta get these glasses we made to augment your reality which is mostly car payments and grocery bills now bro also they weigh as much as a D cell battery just try them before they crash again bro"
@josephcox $2k face-swap technology? Pfft!

@josephcox
The video launch was so bad. The CEO wouldn't even bother putting them on. And the fake cheers from the obvious plants in the audience were so irritating.

51 degree field of view. Cheering.
4 hour battery life. Cheering.
Weighs a stupid amount. Cheering.
Has magnetic charging. Cheering.

These companies are so desperate to keep 'line going up'. No innovation. Nothing new. Just another example of #roteconomy

@josephcox like really fucking stupid
@josephcox Jason is a real champ for even allowing himself to be photographed in this face hugging atrocity
@josephcox @liquor_american
Stop trying to make smart glasses happen.
