yeah ChatGPT, we all trying to find the person who is responsible for this ram prices mess 😂

@nixCraft so ChatGPT doesn't search internet to get up to date info? It's using whatever historical data from when it was trained?. Awesomer and awesomer.

I always refer to it as a search engine, but it seems like it's just a static wiki.

I second the motion - snitch on it to the feds.

@b3lt3r they have tools available that they can use, and sometimes you need to lift them on it. My local llm often doesn't believe me that software versions or hardware exist until I tell it to check the date (which is a separate tool it can use, otherwise it assumes it cutoff date is the current date) and search the internet if it doesn't know something.
@b3lt3r @nixCraft It's an old index with a word association fixation. Spicy autocorrect. That's it.
@b3lt3r I replicated and when pushed it says the pricing data it uses is from 2023
@b3lt3r Yup. Asking LLMs about up-to-date information is like talking to a time machine.

@b3lt3r @nixCraft the only real way to keep these things up to date is to train them continually. I believe there's a little bit of that going on, but it's little enough for it to be significantly behind in many aspects.

This is one reason why you should never listen to someone who says "if you ignore the training costs, company Y is profitable"
