@davidaugust Maybe an annual vote on "least well-behaved billionaire" each year. The chosen billionaire's assets are expropriated.

EDIT: Actually, this is a brilliant idea that would change society... every billionaire would spend a fortune trying to paint all the other billionaires as worse than themselves, quickly turning public opinion against all of them. How clever I am!

@SecondUniverse i kinda like this idea.

@davidaugust @SecondUniverse

Nah…

I say we implement the mythical sacrifice of "the most virtuous (virgin)" to appease "the gods". Every month we kick the most virtuous = wealthy down into an active volcano, in order to appease the god of the economy, the "market".

I'm willing to bet that doing so actually had a measurably positive net effect on the economy and societies.

@datenwolf @davidaugust @SecondUniverse

"Oh Great Maar'ket, accept this offering of golden blood and send us your signals that we may maximise our profits!"

@SecondUniverse @davidaugust I think that is a good premise for a SciFi book. And I wonder how bad the society would be that implemented that...

Who knows, maybe not bad at all? I think I am too cynical.

@davidaugust
Hence the T-shirt in my profile pic.

Society needs more of that.

@davidaugust rich people are not politically united. George Soros was the biggest spender in politics before Elon Musk. LeBron & Oprah have very different politics from Trump. A lot of poor and working-class racists want to kill rich liberals:

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/05/cesar-sayoc-sentenced-to-20-years-for-sending-bombs-to-trump-critics.html

'MAGA Bomber' Cesar Sayoc sentenced to 20 years in prison for trying to kill Trump critics, including Obama, Clinton, Biden, Booker, Harris

Cesar Sayoc's other targets included CNN, former Attorney General Eric Holder, former CIA Director John Brennan, Sens. Cory Booker, D-N.J., and Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Tom Steyer, a billionaire now seeking for the Democratic presidential nomination.

@jonesmurphy @davidaugust OK, and what exactly have those billionaires done that's so great? Donating millions to "team blue" war criminals? Extracting billions of taxpayer dollars by investing in market collapses? There is no such thing as a good billionaire.
@admin @davidaugust poor and working-class bigots are FAR more evil than liberal billionaires. When I go out running early every morning, it ain't liberal billionaires in police uniforms stalking me and looking for a reason to treat me like George Floyd. We're not approaching racist dictatorship and Civil War II because of liberal billionaires. You got some fulked priorities my friend. Pull your head out of your privilege and pay attention to the urgent, dangerous situation in America right now.

@jonesmurphy @admin @davidaugust But what is it that turned the working class into racist bigots? Isn't it the wealthy and powerful who control the public narrative in order to direct any fear and hatred at marginalised groups?

In this case attacking the issue at the root would pretty much be the only option, as otherwise the manipulation won't stop.

@davidaugust They're only not afraid, because they lost touch with reality
