Where do y'all #australians buy #masa? I got a little bag from the IGA to make fresh tortillas. Now I'm addicted to fresh corn tortillas but these little bags aren't very economical, and I don't like the plastic packaging.

Woolies sell polenta, which isn't the same, apparently.

BTW try to find a product called MASECA, it's definitely a top product (better than red mill) and I am sure you can find it in Australia.

Blue Corn Flour (Maseca Masa Harina) 1kg

@tj

It's the product that delivers. Recommended if it's fresh, buy it if you find it.

@tj
I see they also carry Minsa brand flour, great product as well.

@tj

Strange they only carry the blue corn variety of Maseca and not the yellow one. Maybe they have trouble allocating some for import. But the blue corn flour will not disappoint.

@tj I'm not sure how helpful this'll be. We used to buy "Masa Lista", which I believe is the same thing under a different name, rather than a brand. I can't recall exactly where we got it but I suspect it might've been some nondescript "international" grocer. I _think_ this is the brand we used to buy: https://importedmexicanfoods.com/product/masa-lista-2/. We haven't got the tortilla press out for a very long time, it's such a good way to have them!

@tj In a real pinch, you can find online instructions to nixtamalize the polenta, thus basically turning it into masa. It's not ideal as this should be done before the corn is ground, and it's an extra step, but it is a possibility.

@tj Usually grocery stores catering to whatever cuisine you are making have the ingredients for a lot less than a mainstream grocery store.

Off the topic: I really like Bob's Red Mill because the products are good, Bob made the company employee owned, and it is a B Corporation (ie., has high ethical standards).
