Fujifilm X-T30, Fujinon XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4

i converted this camera to full spectrum myself and it's a huge piece of shit (because it was already kinda broken) but yknow what? it takes pictures, in IR. What more can you ask? (maybe that it would not reset all settings to a weird random default every time you turn it off...)
@wxcafe ooh, I recently also converted an old camera of mine to full spectrum. The EOS 600D, it’s an ✨ experience ✨ taking photos, but the results are great

@janamarie oh i converted this one like a year and a half ago when i came back from my road trip, because it had taken a fall anyway and so the shutter button was fucked

so i had gotten an x-t5 and figured i might as well try to fix this one, which worked... about halfway, i guess. maybe i should give it another go sometime to see if i can make it work a little better

but also i have completely switched away from fujifilm since then so uh. maybe i should get an E-mount camera that's IR, now

@janamarie anyway but yeah IR for sure is easier with a mirrorless camera than with a DSLR lol, but yeah it's really fun!

okay ive put hi-res exports of the images on my server if you want to use one as a wallpaper or something

maybe at some point ill see about setting up some sort of shop for prints and/or high resolution wallpapers or whatever but for now here you go

@wxcafe Thank you so muuuch!!
@azavech @Tudwall pardon c'est de moi qu'on parle ou de @Tudwall
@wxcafe @Tudwall non pardon @Tudwall x’)
@azavech @wxcafe Ah ? C'est possible, j'étais pas mal actif sur twitter y'a super longtemps et j'ai jamais changé de pseudo x)
@wxcafe erm... Wow 😲 ❤️
@wxcafe woow, those are great! I love the second one, it’s so mystical
@janamarie thank you!! yeah that white building looks so much like a southern church for some reason, when it's just an industrial building in rural france where they used to do plastics injection molding lol
@wxcafe lol, yea it does!
@wxcafe wow that one through the windows is a really stunning shot! beautiful!
@wxcafe I can't believe you are leaking photos from the trans pocket dimension like this 😭 It was our best kept secret!
@wxcafe The first shot is very War of The Worlds 2005 👽
@wxcafe holy smokes how are they not paintings
@nileane well, mostly because i don't know how to paint on canvas (my skills stop at warhammer miniatures), whereas i know how to take apart electronics and how to shoot a camera
@wxcafe Holy cow!
Even zooming in on the details, my brain has a hard time not seeing these as paintings! Incredible work!
@wxcafe damn unreal 5 is the shit (extremely good work)
@adamas thank you! it's fun out there (i wish i could do any sort of 3d modelling lol)

@wxcafe I’ve been thinking of getting an IR-camera for the better part of a decade and you’re not helping with these really cool photos!

(I kinda struggle to justify it tho, my photos would not be as cool I reckon! But it might get me to at least try to take more landscape photos which would be cool I suppose)

@wxcafe Oh wow. Those are *gorgeous*.
@Sylvhem thank you!
@wxcafe You’re welcome!
I really love your photography ^^.
@wxcafe
Very strangely beautiful.
How do you manage to get IR and convert it to visible color?
@stupeflo all digital camera sensors can see infrared (and UV, for that matter), but they have a filter in front of the sensor so only visible light gets in. you simply take the camera apart, remove that sensor, fix focal distance precisely, and put the camera back together

@stupeflo then generally you have to only use the lens at maximum aperture because otherwise you'll get infrared reflections inside the lens.

and then after you've shot the picture, you take the raw file, white balance it, swap the red and blue channels, and color correct a bit. and then the image looks like kodak aerochrome

@wxcafe that first one is especially 🔥

@wxcafe

Love them all! That first one is mesmerizing!

@wxcafe I love these photos! The first one seems like a picture taken from Stranger Things :)
@wxcafe how do you do such pics? With a specific filter?
@carl all digital camera sensors are sensitive to infrared and UV, but they have a filter on the sensor itself that cuts off those frequencies. if you're brave, or stupid like me, you can take apart the digital camera, remove the filter, put it back together, use a 550nm filter on your lens to cut out blue light, and then do a bit of editing on the RAW files, and you get pictures that look like Kodak Aerochrome like these
@wxcafe thanks for the explanation. I'm not brave enough to take apart my digital camera 😅
