The US Postal Service (USPS) published a proposed rule to allow the federal government to control who can cast a mail-in or absentee ballot. States would have to send a list of every voter slated to receive a ballot by mail to the USPS.

Public comments are now being accepted on this rule. See link for info on how to send an email with your comment.

@ahimsa_pdx @LJ States would have to send a list of every voters slated to receive a ballot by mail to the USPS?

That would be some list in Washington state since that's every single resident of the state. We don't have polling places, at least not that I know of. We all vote by mail.

Same in Oregon! Oregon has actually had full vote by mail longer than Washington.

And to be clear it's only registered voters, not all residents. It would not include people under 18, non-citizens, people who choose not to register to vote, etc.

Anyway, the rule makes no sense and I believe it's unconstitional. But this regime has done so many things that are unconstitutional that I've lost count.

@ahimsa_pdx The problem if they use a registered voter list then they also know what party you are registered under, if you have chosen a party. That makes me wonder if they're going to try to prevent Democrats from getting ballots.

@ahimsa_pdx Oh, that's rich. This is the same USPS that can't seem to deliver CERTIFIED MAIL as it loses 1/2 of every certified mail piece I have sent or caused to be sent since 2019.

I wish that was hyperbole, but sadly it is not. At this point, I have the postmaster or post supervisor direct numbers of at least 4 different locations in my area.

@ahimsa_pdx Absolutely unconstitutional.

@ahimsa_pdx whole deal is 100% illegal!

I wish someone would kick the Cheeto out already. #nokings #democracy

@ahimsa_pdx
Combine this with the recent SCOTUS decision saying that USPS doesn’t have to deliver to people if they don’t want to, and guess who will be the only people to receive their ballots.

Court holds that U.S. Postal Service can’t be sued over intentionally misdelivered mail

A divided Supreme Court sided with the federal government on Tuesday in U.S. Postal Service v. Konan, a dispute over mishandled mail. Writing for a 5-4 majority, Justice Clarence Thomas explained tha…

Unconstitutional bullshit. Sue every one responsible and remove them from any positions of power and forbid them to run for anything or be appointed to anything ever again. These are people seeking to commit treason against the constitution.

@ahimsa_pdx the US voting system is so f'ed up really.
Over here, every eligible voter gets a ballot by mail, and you have the choice to mail it back or hand it in in person.
But since there is only one for each eligible voter, there can't be fraud.

It's not that hard.

@ahimsa_pdx going to get those voter rolls one way or another.

@ahimsa_pdx I've been trying to find this link to comment on the rule, thanks.

Also, jfc 😡

@ahimsa_pdx

I think in the UK you can vote by proxy but you have to register so that person can vote on your behalf,l i would guess it is similar to having power of attorney to control a persons financial assets if that person is incapacitate and can't make decisions.
