Have you ever wondered which cities are mentioned the most in the Fediverse? I did! I built a small tool that checks the hashtags for the biggest cities in DE, AT, CH, NL, GB, IT, FR and DK.

This is only a small, limited analysis, but you can see lots of dots everywhere, especially in bigger cities, and generally in Germany and the Netherlands. [1/3]

@sabrinkmann I notice that the Fediverse stops at the borders of #belgium and #luxemburg . They are completely surrounded.

@sabrinkmann Perhaps it has something to do with the different languages in Belgium.
#Ghent for instance is #Gand in French and #Gent in Dutch and German.
#Brussels is #Bruxelles (or #Bxl ) in French, #Brussel in Dutch and #Brüssel in German.
Even #Belgium is different: #Belgique , #België and #Belgien respectively

EDIT: just noticed that BE wasn't included, sorry, the penny dropped a bit late. #Brussels for instance is used a lot to refer to decisions made by the EU, it should be huge.
