Summer Game Fest has been incredible this year! Lots of exciting games on the horizon. So while you wait, here’s a thread of some pre-reading you can do. 👇🧵 #SGF #Gaming #Booksky
They kicked things off strong with the long-rumored Resident Evil - Code: Veronica. You could absolutely go play the original to scratch the itch, but why not check out S.D. Perry’s novelization from 2012. 📕 www.thevideogamelibrary.org/book/residen... #ResidentEvil #Gaming #Booksky

Was great to see @[email protected] hit us with a #Cuphead double-whammy! You can go ahead and subject yourselves to another fun but grueling playthrough of the first game and DLC… …but for those less brave, why not check out some of the great books, starting with Cuphead in Carnival Chaos 📙
Even though it took me WAY longer than it should’ve to realize it was an #AlienIsolation2 to trailer, it was one of the highlights of the show for me. And I can’t think of a better book than @[email protected]’s “Perfect Organism” Be sure to check out @[email protected]’s Assembly Cut!! 👽
Okay #GenAtlas looks amazing! And in my opinion, Ueda hasn’t really missed. So ahead of the game, why not dive deeper into The Works of Fumito Ueda with this book from @[email protected] and @[email protected] #Ico #ShadowOfTheColossus #TheLastGuardian
A gorgeous new IP and no release date, so it’s easy to understand why there’s no books on #BloodMessage quite yet…. …but publisher NetEase Games is an industry juggernaut. Learn about their meteoric rise in the world’s biggest gaming market with this book: “China Game: Industrial History”
RGG Studio continues to keep us guessing with #StrangerThanHeaven, a crime/music drama (with some interesting cameos) stretching across several eras. While we await more clues, dig into the studio’s celebrated criminal underworld with Generation Yakuza. 📘
Supernatural creatures in the Nordic wilderness? Yes please! #HAEX was one of the most intriguing new reveals. No dedicated HAEX book quite yet, but survival fans can take a much broader journey through the genre with @[email protected]'s: "The World of Scary Video Games"
On that same note, a suitably creepy 10th-anniversary teaser reminded us that #DeadByDaylight still has plenty of surprises ahead. 🎈 Need something to read while you wait? How about this awesome Dead By Daylight Fan Comic Anthology out of Japan!? @[email protected] #DontBlink #HappyBirthday
Last night, #MortalShell2 returned with more grim environments, punishing encounters and dark fantasy combat in its Open Beta. Players drawn to that uncompromising #Soulslike atmosphere may also enjoy @[email protected]'s deep dive into the genre. @[email protected] @[email protected]
Giant mechanical war machines trouncing around the desert planet made #SANDRaidersOfSophie stand out for me as far as virtual worlds go. For those interested in the foundations and systems behind designing these worlds, try this book from Richard Bartle.
Raise the sails! Edward Kenway is heading back to sea in #AssassinsCreedIV #BlackFlag #Resynced! Now, I “could” suggest waiting until the game’s official art book drops in July, but since this is all about passing the time, we’re going to revisit the original’s ships, cities and characters 👇
I know fans didn’t love Mutants in Manhattan, but #PlatinumGames taking on #TMNT #TheLastRonin sounds very promising to me. I mean...the obvious recommendation is to go read The Last Ronin, but for the sake of #VideoGames, let’s reflect back on all the great Turtles games of yesteryear with this:
A new season for the ever-changing world of #Fortnite. Not going to pretend to understand the updates, but glad to see all the excitement from players! To discover the latest that 2026 has to offer, you’re going to need to check out Pro Gamer’s Definitive Guide to Fortnite 2026.
#Gundam #RogueOrbit had a pretty cool trailer in this year's #SGF, with me not quite sure what I was looking at until the title was announced. Don’t have a specific book for this one quite yet, but there are SO MANY Gundam guides on our site. This one has a gorgeous cover...so to tide you over:
Gotta say, #AnEggstremelyHardGame looked delightfully chaotic, and another great game to come out of the Indie scene. Perhaps it’ll hit the level of popularity that these other titles did that are featured in @[email protected] and @[email protected]'s: "50 Indie Games That Changed The World"
Crossfire, to me, was a 90’s tabletop game with one of the best commercial theme songs of the decade... But THIS long-running #Crossfire video game franchise was a different thing entirely. And 2007’s inaugural entry in the Crossfire franchise actually appears in @[email protected]' Hurt Me Plenty.
