Agi: "Israele spia Witkoff", massima allerta del Pentagono

In seguito a un servizio della NBC secondo cui il Pentagono avrebbe innalzato a livello critico il livello di allerta per il controspionaggio nei confronti di Israele, il New York Times ha riportato che i documenti includono preoccupazioni sul fatto che Israele abbia intensificato i suoi sforzi per intercettare le comunicazioni di alti funzionari americani, tra cui l'inviato speciale di Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, nonché il principale consigliere politico del Pentagono, Elbridge Colby, e uno dei suoi principali vice, Michael DiMino.
Fonti americane hanno riferito al New York Times che Israele sta cercando di ottenere informazioni sulla strategia di Trump e sui suoi mutevoli ruoli riguardo ai colloqui di pace con l'Iran. Secondo il giornale, il rapporto del Pentagono è stato redatto in seguito ad episodi in cui il personale di sicurezza americano in Israele ha rilevato l'installazione clandestina di software di sorveglianza sui propri telefoni.  
Israele rimuove il vicecapo del Mossad
Intanto, sempre restando in tema di servizi segreti, va detto che il nuovo capo del Mossad, Roman Gofman, ha rimosso il suo vice, Aleph, dall'incarico. Un comunicato diffuso dall'ufficio del Primo Ministro a nome del Mossad ha dichiarato che "il capo del Mossad intende nominare un nuovo vice proveniente dall'interno dell'organizzazione. Ha espresso il suo profondo apprezzamento ad Aleph per i 22 anni di servizio operativo nel Mossad. Aleph ha augurato al capo del Mossad grande successo".
Il comunicato ha inoltre precisato che "la decisione rientra nel processo di insediamento del capo del Mossad, che intende formare il team dirigenziale che lo affianchera' nel raggiungimento degli obiettivi e nell'affrontare le sfide che l'organizzazione dovra' affrontare nei prossimi anni".

Israel spies on Witkoff, Pentagon on highest alert

Following a NBC report alleging that the Pentagon had raised the level of alert for counterintelligence against Israel to critical, The New York Times reported that the documents included concerns that Israel had intensified its efforts to intercept the communications of high-ranking American officials, including Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, as well as Pentagon chief advisor Elbridge Colby, and one of his top deputies, Michael DiMino.

American sources told The New York Times that Israel is seeking information on Trump’s strategy and his changing roles regarding peace negotiations with Iran. According to the newspaper, the Pentagon report was drafted following incidents in which American security personnel in Israel detected the clandestine installation of surveillance software on their phones.

Israel Removes Deputy Head of Mossad

Meanwhile, while still discussing intelligence agencies, it was noted that the new head of Mossad, Roman Gofman, removed his deputy, Aleph, from his position. A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office on behalf of Mossad declared that “the head of Mossad intends to appoint a new deputy from within the organization. He expressed his deep appreciation to Aleph for the 22 years of operational service in Mossad. Aleph wished the head of Mossad great success.”

The statement also clarified that “the decision is part of the process of installing the head of Mossad, who intends to form the management team that will support him in achieving objectives and addressing the challenges that the organization will face in the coming years.”
