Wondering whether to pack that ball for the Welsh beaches on Saturday afternoon ;-)

Still watching the weather as if I control it.

As usual I have over-prepared including having a haircut and buying some new clothes in the delusion that either of these things will help me finish.
Importantly I invested in a new visibility vest for what looks like a dark and possibly rainy night. Should satisfy PBP requirements so it’s an investment (AUK don’t regulate on this).
I’ve discovered that ACP have also relaxed their rules on aero bars. So I’ve refitted my full length ones after a fairly dismal trial of shorter ones that were uncomfortable and unstable. You can’t say I’m not thorough, but none of this counts if my body does its usual trick of self-destructing at about 260 km. I really want to succeed, it’s become a bit of a thing.
@wlukewindsor good luck for PBP. I did it 23 and loved it. Best cycling experience of my life. If you've not done it before have have any questions, ask away?
@paulfreeman that’s very kind - I was all set to go in 2015 and didn’t qualify (it’s a long story) despite having the capability (I did get my SR that year but my 600 was a DIY substitute after failing to complete the BRM). Since then other things have been more important or urgent so this is the first time I’ve really thought it might happen since then. Haven’t completed an SR since, and this year hasn’t gone that well so far (DNFed a very hard 300 after a very successful 200 and a couple of straightforward 200s last year).
@wlukewindsor qualifying was way harder than the actual event for me. Started with getting a prequalifier the year before (so this year in 27 terms) - back injury caused me to miss many events and I got the ride in on the very last day. Then I failed a 400 in the SR and the replacement 400 was the hardest ride I've ever done - 20mph headwinds - finished with 15 minutes to spare.
@wlukewindsor
This year, i'd planned to do a 1300 in scotland, but illness and under preparedness earlier in the year has left me out of the running and I withdrew. So many things do have to go right for these things to work.
@paulfreeman I am sorry it was so hard but also relieved that you think qualifying was harder than finishing!
@wlukewindsor I am joining you in that last paragraph... planning on a 100 mile on Sat. 🤞
@FourT4 currently low probability light rain in the night which I can probably live with
@wlukewindsor you sound well prepared. Your bike looks ready. Wishing you well towards completion. Its mostly all in the head.
@wlukewindsor Good luck Luke I hope you have a great time!
