Seriously, I cannot emphasize this enough Canadian friends:

Bill C-22 SHALL NOT PASS! ⛔️

If you are Canadian, you must contact your representative ASAP to tell them you strongly oppose Bill C-22.

We cannot have this kind of authoritarianism in Canada (or anywhere else frankly).

Stop the Surveillance State: Stop Bill C-22!

🚨 Bill C-22 forces every Canadian internet provider, messaging app & cloud service to build surveillance backdoors and store a year of your data. Foreign state hackers exploited similar legislation in the US. Shut the backdoor: https://openmedia.org/StopC22 #BillC22

@Em0nM4stodon I heard earlier that it was referred back to committee likely to die. Is that not true?
@disorderlyf Unfortunately this isn't true. They're talking about an amendment, but the minister seems set on passing the bill and minimizing its very legitimate criticisms. The minister needs to know Canadians strongly oppose this. We need to tell him and tell him now: From yesterday: https://globalnews.ca/news/11870383/lawful-access-bill-not-optional-privacy-amendments-minister/
Lawful access bill not ‘optional’ but will see privacy amendments: minister

Gary Anandasangaree defended Bill C-22 as necessary for investigators as the legislation faces growing privacy concerns and tech industry pushback.
