Gonna do this as an image (also available as alt-text, though I did have to edit it a bit to make it fit thanks website boy) As a reminder, this is NOT an exhaustive list.

If you are on any of these meds
1- Make sure you take extra good care of yourself in the summer / hot days (Hydrating, providing shade, cooling off)
2- Speaking from experience, if you are in STABLE mental health, you may be able to lower your dose of a med to tolerate summer better. It worked great for me last summer (though there were still really hot days) and we're trying it again this summer.

I really must stress, in the face of climate change, people who are on medications like this (And don't have the luxury of quitting them) need to understand there are ways of coping (see above)

I probably don't need to state this but just in case: if you see a med you're on on this list, don't just quit it cold-turkey. That's a horrible idea. Talk to your provider, get their okay, and their plan for TAPERING you off it.

boosting this in case some of y'all didn't see this.

was reminded of it by my psychiatry appointment, another med is being tinkered with because our current solution has not been enough for 90+ (32+) days we've had on and off since our last appointment and as of the past few years we usually have 100+ (38+) days that while I will try not to go out during those, will definitely impact me!

@lapis haha, yeah. i was wondering
@lapis adhd stimulant meds too, also things like warfaren, methotrexate, it goes on and on. if you're on a med, it's always a good idea to look it up

@forestine @lapis
I did an online search on ADHD stimulants and heat and couldn't find any warnings about lisdexaphetamine. Only about how Methylphenidate may make you feel less thirsty, so you should actively check how much you drink.

I guess people on lisdexamphetamine don't have that problem, because it makes your mouth dry and you feel more thirsty all the time... (I do)

But I found info about how lisdexamphetamine can make you sweat more and cause heat flashes. And now I wander if what I've been experiencing really is perimenopause or just a side effect of my meds, or a mix of both...

@lapis this is helpful, thank you. i used to take three of these at the same time, and now two.
@lapis I take two of these at the same time and when I fainted from heat exhaustion I brought it up with my med counselor and she didn’t mention it was related 🤪
@cam ugh I am SO sorry
@lapis it’s ok, I’ve fainted before that so I knew how to handle it. one time I fainted while on a zoom call on camera, got up and tried to continue the conversation, then fainted again

@lapis
Thank you for posting this.

I'm on some of these and didn't know!

@grendel84 np! I absolutely want to make sure people realize and take precautions because often this info isn't shared upfront at least in the US
