This is an excellent #EMCOM thread. I love my radio stuff. I haven't yet set up an antenna at the new house (I primarily do #QRP field/temp setups) but it's on the list.

#MeshCore is also on the list, and I think a better entry ramp for normal people. #AmateurRadio is super well-documented and the initial license test is not that hard, but the cultural hurdles (i.e. moving into a new nerdspace) are significant. (I like radio much more than radio people.)

There’s a group (yes, more radio people) working to get meshcore set up around Nashville. They’ve got a few sets of instructions for different node builds and may have one to give you if you’ve got a good location.
