@eniko IMO it's been the standard in the normal press too. Breathlessly repeating claims about cryptocurrency/blockchain/NFTs. Before that there was the company that claimed to be developing room-wide wireless charging through the magic of resonance, the company that was fixing power distribution because it was apparently woefully inefficient (failure to understand the difference between real and apparent power?). Lots of people claiming perpetual motion machines. Someone who claimed to have solved division by zero with "nullity". Theranos.
