Fuck. Reflect Orbital apparently had more time than we thought to respond, and they just did. We have a lot more writing to do. Hopefully some of you who wrote comments will also write and submit replies to Reflect Orbital's FCC response. I'm sure it's total bullshit, and I am not sure when I will have the strength to read it.

Fuck you, Reflect Orbital. I hate absolutely everything you are planning to do. Really tempted to submit THAT to the FCC...but I will rethink when not 100% exhausted.

@janefriedman is reporting that the amount authors will receive in the Anthropic book settlement has gone up because the class-action lawyers have reduced their fees.

It was $3,000 per book (usually split 50/50 with your publisher), but now it's likely to be $3,700 per book (before split).

It's worth your time to see if your name is in the database.

It's been a few years since I drew this. I still stand by it.

Tracking Anti-Trans Bills | Erin Reed | TMR

I presented at the local planetary journal club this morning about the 3 articles I co-authored for The Conversation in the past weeks about the effects that one million satellites would have on the night sky, the atmosphere, and the orbital environment (spoiler alert: all very very bad)

https://theconversation.com/a-new-space-race-could-turn-our-atmosphere-into-a-crematorium-for-satellites-276366

https://theconversation.com/too-many-satellites-earths-orbit-is-on-track-for-a-catastrophe-but-we-can-stop-it-275430

And one on light pollution that I thought would get published today but might not be out until after the weekend.

A new space race could turn our atmosphere into a ‘crematorium for satellites’

Planned ‘megaconstellations’ of satellites could cause unforeseen harm to the ozone layer and climate systems. Global regulation is needed before it’s too late.

Hi #fediverse. We need to talk about something.

While talking to a colleague about how I recently learned most people have never sat on a cow it came up that she has never sat on a horse. Like, not even once during childhood.

Another colleague admitted they also have never sat on a horse.

My hypothesis is that most people have at one point in their life sat on a horse.

Who Asked For This?

A: No one.

The reason I fight so hard for trans kids is because I was a trans kid myself. I knew who I was in the year 2000, 12 years old, behind my computer, using the name Erin. I wanted puberty blockers so badly. My body shifted and changed in horrifying ways that I suffered for 15 years over.
