@chickpeapole whoaa !! 🤩
we were doing seats and laybacks yesterday as a precursor to the cross ankle release. i managed to take my top hand off for about half a second before i felt like i was gonna slide off ^^' i'll definitely get there though :)
@mi You got this!!! Sounds like you're super close! Something that really helped me when I was first learning cross knee laybacks was to do it super low to the floor with mats, so I can feel safe to actually... well... lay back. As soon as you can actually get yourself to tip back, the pressure distribution changes and the hold becomes a lot stronger.
When I wasn't tipping very far, out of fear of hitting my head and dying, I wasn't able to get enough pressure in my legs to hold me up

@chickpeapole oh yeah i definitely got that with the cross knee ones. first couple of times it's terrifying, but then you realise how secure you actually are and now i'm pretty comfortable with them :) variation in this second photo is currently my favourite pose https://twoot.site/@mi/116487169788640919

that is a really good point though about the changing pressure. trying to remove my hand for the cross ankle one it felt like the pole was trying to slip down towards my knees, but maybe that's normal?

@mi it is!! If you look at where the pole is hitting on me, the pressure is quite low at the bottom of the thighs, right at the top of the insides of my knees. Definitely play around with it low on the ground first so you can figure out where the pressure is supposed to be to hold you up. There needs to be enough weight on the knees/thighs to "pull" you and counteract the pressure of your sacrum against the pole that "pushes" you
@chickpeapole aaahh ok yes i get it! definitely gonna try drilling it a bit next week if i get a chance :)
tysm for the tips !! 🥰
