google wants to #aislop and monopolize all #android apps.

so, not only they don't want to deal with developers as contract workers on their appstore ―that’s the whole point of forcing ID, to shoo away the vast majority of developers who aren’t incorporated as businesses. they now want to wipeout said developers and own all the apps.

I think this exists, possibly in the plural? I think the main obstacle is that users of existing hardware need to figure out how to root their devices (not always possible), and the Google version is still (as I understand it) lurking deep in the firmware.

(I am not an authoritative source on this, and could definitely be wrong about everything, possibly all the time*.)

@blogdiva ha ha ha ha ha while tech hipsters are making fun of the incompetence of Copilot and clownery of Claude, they always seem to conveniently miss the "do no evil" crowd flying Captain Geminis right at all the skyscrapers... I standby the prediction that Gemini will be the monopolistic BS generator used by the masses as it will be baked into all Google's other mass used products as they already rely on spying on everyone who uses it for an get tons of ad revenue already.
