WaveDash is a new games platform on the block. Competing for the likes of CrazyGames, Poke, Itchio and others. Browser game platforms is a very competitive space indeed!

For HTML5 game developers, what has your goto preferences been when it comes to creating web games with revenue?

#gamedev #indiedev

@beemdvp I've been thinking that "platform" is the wrong choice for this. Games are treated as just "content", coldly catalogued in lists with tags.

Games are as much "from itch.io" as this comment is "from Mastodon".

And the sheer number of games, as well as their disconnection from the platform, limits the possible platform features.

@beemdvp I think a close relationship between host and dev (think business partner or collective) would enable:

- the platform does marketing, and every week shows off the new game to potential players, potentially reruns of previous games
- devs can vote on platform features
- coordinate launches (1 per week, gets front page)
- basic quality control -- players expect something playable
- less competition between games on platform
- sharing analytics internally. What genres do players want?

@fabiosantoscode Well i think thats just it. Maybe "platform" is the wrong word here. "Host" as you've mentioned is probably more appropriate provides the best chance for you to release a sustainable game. (Assuming the market actually likes your game of course)

@beemdvp I think "human" makes the difference here.

Human scale, not web scale.

If I'm spending months making a game this host should have time for a phone call about the launch, or even about starting development and talking about how it fits on the host/platform.
