#GitHub is sinking

Whatever #Microsoft acquires, turns bad over time.

My newest #FOSS projects all go to #codeberg.

I'm still uncertain if moving GitHub projects to Codeberg has more advantages than disadvantages such as broken links, ... 🤔

GitHub is sinking – OSnews

@publicvoit Just do it, don't overthink it ;)

@publicvoit My current approach is to wait until automatic migration tools have matured.

I don't see broken links as an issue. You can keep an archived copy of the project on #GitHub. This turns the project read-only, so nobody can add new issues etc.

And if you add a prominent note on top of the README that points to the follow-up project on codeberg, everyone interested should be able to find it.

Archiving repositories - GitHub Docs

You can archive a repository to make it read-only for all users and indicate that it's no longer actively maintained. You can also unarchive repositories that have been archived.
