I vaguely remember a shortcut of pressing the "OK" and the "*" button to lock those kinds of phones. Also you can use keypad 2, 4, 6, and 8 when moving around the snake in the Snake game lol
Speed dial, set up the contact to assign to a number and when you wanna call a contact you have on speed dial, just hold that #

I still use these but sparingly. When I switched to a smartphone I never really found the appeal to use emojis. I still prefer those small emoticons. The animations are pretty quirky. Those ones used on old old internet forums and stuff
Idk. I'm on the old old side of Gen Z. I remember the first time we were able to connect to the internet. It was a DSL thingy.
I just played flash games back then. My older brother was on to niche subjects and guess what, he watched an entire cartoon series on youtube that's on cartoon network, LOL.
Yeah we were on YouTube back in like 2007 or 08. I remember the icons being animated when you hover your cursor over them. It was whatever was popular that popped on the main page...
We kinda missed what went on for some years though cos we moved and we didn't have internet that time. I wasn't really bothered when we weren't connected online for a long long while but yeah.
When we were finally back online, things were relatively calm. 2014 to 2015 was pretty calm, but things were definitely brewing by the end of '15. Gmod youtubers, minceraft youtubers, FNAF youtubers, youtubers of variety stuff.. Just a lot of stuff happening..
Slender youtubers, horror youtubers, gaming youtubers. The let's play youtubers are just fucking everywhere.
Come 2016 and boom ! It felt like everyone was online all at the same time. It was overwhelming honestly.
I mean I was just a 13 - 14 year old and around that time I was modding my Android phone and tablet. I didn't care much about youtube and other parts of the internet. I spent most of my time on XDA developers and forums.
The rest was history till by the end of 2019 where I spent the rest of my Christmas break just playing Fallout. No socials, no nothing. Just Fallout 3, NV, and 4.
By March or I think April of 2020 I decided to leave social media for good and forget the people I knew in person. They weren't around when I was depressed and I needed real help, someone I can trust..
It's hard to live life like you have to act "normal" and fit in with the society's expectations.
Plus I turned into a bear without even knowing wtf furry means. Idk it was a dark lonely moment in my life.
Reality and fiction sort of "combine" when you're in that "window" where nothing really matters anymore. Where entertaining what's beyond death makes you curious instead of be bothered by it. Maybe something nice at the end. Maybe it's the answer, stuff like that. When you think "hey, suicide ain't that bad. It's gonna hurt but it's gonna be worth it."
Was it not for me, the bear, I wouldn't be writing things like these anymore.
So I left social media when lockdowns started and stuff. From 2020 - 2024 I sorta laid low, just streaming on Twitch to pretty much nobody, well until I decided maybe it's time to come back out of the cave on March 2024.
July 2024 came and here I am, back on socials !
But if I'm gonna be honest, I kinda wanna go back to not having socials, kinda. Internet's different now and I'm still stuck at like 2007-08, just "backporting" what I learn throughout my stay here. Hell, even my brother told me I'm too "outdated" and stuck in the old days, somewhere along those lines
Idk. If I'm not interested at something, I pretty much forget it exists so I end up not remembering much of what makes the internet is today cos idk. I feel left out and idk, bored..
My heart, mind and gut is still stuck in 2007 - 2014 but everyone has moved on and are chugging along in 2026. I can't keep up.
It definitely feels like you were in prison for 20 years and now that you're out, everything's so different. No matter how you try to adjust, it just doesn't work lol, but it's alright.
