6 more MPs have come out AFTER Starmer's speech saying he should go

Catherine West is also not convinced

Tick ... Tick .... Tick ....

@Geri Am I the only one who feels that Starmer’s departure will only hasten Farage’s seemingly unstoppable ascent to Number 10? Is there any Labour MP who could realistically see off Reform (or even Green, hopefully) at the next election? I realise Starmer is a dead duck but I feel that he’s the best option for now. 😢
@benjamincox @Geri if the genocidal, lying, war criminal Zionist is the best option we are more than fucked but I’d take an actual social Democrat like Polanski over any other Uk leader right now
@JimmyB @Geri Agreed. But looking solely at the Labour Party, I don’t see anyone who can unite the party and get voters behind them. Ultimately, I’d love to see the Greens in charge because this country needs that sort of seismic shift. I’m not defending Starmer, just worried who could replace him while they remain in office.
@Geri @benjamincox yeah - agreed we need that seismic shift. Burnham is massively more popular than Starmer but the left is now firmly split sadly

@JimmyB @benjamincox Starmer is a busted flush

He's actively disliked. That can not do.

Additionally, a divided party won't make progress at a general election.

@benjamincox @JimmyB Dawn Butler, would lead the party well I think. She has an air of quietetude and determination

Xx

@Geri Not at all ashamed to say I missed Starmer's speech, as I've had more pressing matters to deal with than listening to focus group-written, bromidic waffle, so any chance of a TL;DR?

@ApostateEnglishman He vowed to "prove the doubters wrong" and explicitly stated he would not resign, arguing that a leadership contest would plunge the country into chaos.

Key Takeaways

Nationalization: He announced that the government will formally nationalize British Steel this week.

EU Relations: He pledged to put Britain at the "heart of Europe" with a new deal, including an ambitious youth mobility scheme.

Defence Against Reform: Starmer warned that the UK is at risk of heading down a "dark path" and framed Labour as the only defence against "dangerous opponents" like Reform UK.

Job Guarantee: He promised a guaranteed offer of training or work placements for young people

This is from my notes made so far.

It other's wish to contribute, they would be most welcome
