🇸🇪🚆🦌 #Alstom and #Swedish start-up Flox Intelligence have begun large-scale trials of an #AI system designed to reduce wildlife collisions on railways and improve passenger safety in Sweden. The #technology uses AI-powered cameras to detect animals near tracks in real time and trigger tailored sound deterrents to keep them away. Early tests identified species including moose, roe deer, foxes and wild boar, while also providing new data on wildlife movement around railways. The trials are being carried out with Tåg i Bergslagen and operator VR across several Swedish rail lines. Around 5,000 animal collisions are reported on Swedish #railways each year, causing delays, repair costs and risks to drivers and passengers. The project is supported by Sweden’s innovation agency Vinnova and aims to improve punctuality, safety and environmental protection.
