Seriously considering moving to a BSD as I watch Linux fall more and more to corporate influence.

@ironbeagle kind of feeling the same way, but not quite ready to bite the bullet. I've switched to Slackware in the meantime.

@wydamn I'm not sure I'm ready either. My home server is running Fedora Server and I have wanted to swap that out for some time. BSD might be a bridge too far at this point on my server.

My desktop is another story. Currently running EndeavourOS with everything backing up to my server. That might be easier to swap out while learning the BSD way.

@ironbeagle hi, fwiw another user here, becoming vaguely #BSD-curious, then this morning i saw this:

@MsDropbear42 that is interesting.

Is there nowhere free of corporate AI bullshit left?

@ironbeagle FreeBSD's pkgbase transformation is still ongoing and seems a bit painful. At least, that's what I experienced with GhostBSD 26.1-R15.0p2, which I managed to install. I couldn't successfully install a FreeBSD desktop.
I'm using it on a Clevo N240BU laptop. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't use Bastillebsd and Bhyve.
