Help me settle this important issue with my wife, @saraislet
How many presidents had sex at least once in the Oval Office after becoming president?
all of them
56.7%
I'm factually wrong, but somehow not all of them
43.3%
Poll ended at .
@saraislet (this was motivated by my question about what we'll do when @saraislet becomes president, and somehow also related to Star Trek)

@sophieschmieg @saraislet

presidents and james t kirk seem to have similar libidos, if that clarifies anything. ;)

@sophieschmieg @saraislet when was that current room constructed though?

@LapTop006 @sophieschmieg @saraislet Early 1900s IIRC. It's based off an older 'yellow oval room' that existed basically since the beginning if that room also counts.

I don't know how the burning of Washington in 1814 fits into it or if it causes a discontinuity though.

@sophieschmieg @saraislet we're huge believers in servant leadership and all that stuff but nobody who doesn't enjoy power seeks the highest office in the country
@sophieschmieg @saraislet (it's the old Douglas Adams thing - nobody who wants the job should be allowed to have it)
@ireneista @sophieschmieg @saraislet yep the act of running for president is prima facie evidence you should not be trusted with the responsibility of being president
@sophieschmieg @saraislet kinda thinking Jimmy Carter didn’t, he never seemed the type for that.

@sophieschmieg @saraislet

Probably not in the spirit of the question, but...

Several presidents served before the "Oval Office" as it exists today, and Washington never even lived in the White House.

Of course, those earlier presidents had some equivalent to the Oval Office, but if you want to be picky...

@sophieschmieg @saraislet My guess is < 100% of them, but way more than you'd be able to stomach imagining.

@mattblaze @sophieschmieg @saraislet there are some whom I'd seriously doubt, just based on personality and/or age. McKinley comes to mind. Also not sure Teddy Roosevelt was the type for it.

Edit: actually, what was I thinking. A guy whose motto was basically "I can do whatever the constitution doesn't explicitly forbids" would have surely done that.

@odr_k4tana @sophieschmieg @saraislet Constructed during the Taft administration, so the only candidates are Taft, Wilson, Harding, Coolidge, Hoover, FDR, Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama, Trump, Biden
@mattblaze @sophieschmieg @saraislet oh damn, right. Somehow I keep thinking Taft was before McKinley.
Euro brain I guess.
@sophieschmieg @saraislet Definitely not all of them. The White House wasn't around until Adams. So I can guarantee that Washington never had sex in the Oval Office.
@sophieschmieg @saraislet They all screwed the people over
@sophieschmieg @saraislet Great, now I have an image of Jimmy Carter in my head that I can’t un-see
