@VeroniqueB99 I was entering Zion National Park in Utah the other day, it was a long line. The group of four in front of me were interrogated by the park ranger if they were US residents. They said they weren't. She then pointed at this sign and informed them they'd have to produce $400 to enter the park.

They turned around and left, upset.

This xenophobic garbage started life as a Trump executive order, and has the stench of Stephen Miller all over it.

@stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99 Claim the lands of indigenous tribes first, then shake down visitors from abroad. Disgusting.
@stacey_campbell 😱 👀 unfuckingbelievable....
@stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99 I have to be honest here, why would anybody outside the US visit us these days? Between the bullshit at the airport and now NP's stay away, spend you money somewhere else till we sort out our shit
@cvvhrn @stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99
Exactly. Only ever interested to travel for the natural beauty of the country. That does generally include the anthropological aspect - and that, in the US, looks too ugly from the other side of the planet to want to experience it close up. Then this re the places that should be free from the ugly human influence. I hope it gets better.

they could just be residents with visas but no citizenship. there is such a thing as internal tourism, which is a huge separate tourism industry here in USA.

republicans are doing this to bankrupt the parks and sell them for timber and mining.

@cvvhrn @stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99

@blogdiva @cvvhrn @stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99 It says "residents" though, nothing about citizenship.
@blogdiva @cvvhrn @stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99 A) There are great places to visit in the US for people who are already here. B) No way I'm going to risk crossing a border into the U.S. under the current regime.
@blogdiva @cvvhrn @stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99 ...which means I can't visit family in Canada or the UK.
Tarrif attacks on the USA's supposed allies and partners were a shock to the world. It doesn't endear you guys to anyone. Then ICE attacks on anyone vaguely brown and people wrongly detained - or worse! Murdered outright or incarcerated in a foreign mega jail or a domestic concentration camp. Then a warring posture and threatening even more mayhem. And attacking nations and starting wars.
And then, even if someone can be brave enough and forgiving enough to even visit, the USA wants to charge them out the ass for public scenery.
What could possibly go wrong with tourism?

@stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99

You got to give the man credit he is doing everything he can to destroy the American tourist industry. He may even win the Non US Tourism Council Peace Price.

@stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99

Surprised they didn't rename it to Zionist Nationalist Park.

@OverlordTomala @stacey_campbell 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@stacey_campbell Outrageous & shameful. Embarrassing. Those people will hate the U.S. forever. @VeroniqueB99

@stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99

"Zion" National Park - the clue is in the name, they probably genocided the original inhabitants first, just like zionists are doing now

welcome to the #UnitedStatesofArseholes

(no offence to none-arsehole Americans, of course)

@stacey_campbell @VeroniqueB99

It is pretty common here in Florida for residents to get a discounted price. The logic being that we are going to go many times with different out of state visitors and/or go more often ourselves since the attraction is local.

It is hard to apply that logic though to the entire US.

Zion NP is gorgeous.
