Just got my chronic open-source fever again. When that happens, I go on hours trying to figure out how to replace "evil" services with open-source ones. Last time I deleted Instagram, Threads, X, and Linkedin, and moved here intead. This time trying to figure out whether it's time to ditch Google and move to Proton. I am not sure it's quite there yet for me but getting close. Any thoughts?

@tsuri_by I'm blocking google and all services 100% during daily use by DNS filter. I switched online office to collabora online + nextcloud. Sometimes I need google playstore for iot android apps, but only on a "strongly limited" mobile. Thougt I would need search console for different website projects. But I deleted all properties and nothing happened for about one year. Traffic is still the same. Thus I have also stopped, optimizing for google search. No affect also.

@Andreas_Sturm That's amazing, kind of my dream to leave Google and all those other bad energy products. I have been working on linux for 16 years now, slowly switching to everything open source, even my art, and every time that I do, I feel like another small burden has been lifted off me.

@tsuri_by Never thought I could do without Illustrator and Photoshop, which is why I stuck with Windows for a long time at home. At my job I am using Linux a long time. After my outrageously expensive Wacom tablet with built-in screen stopped working on Windows, no longer any drivers available, I switched to Linux – where it works perfectly – and turned my back on Adobe.

My only regret: Why did I wait so long to do it? πŸ˜†

Because I’m old, I’ve lived another life without Google before πŸ˜‰

@Andreas_Sturm Inspiring stuff my friend, I use Blender, Krita and Inkscape :)
